Game of thrones review
At first I was incredibly sceptical I wasn’t interested in the show, I thought it seemed like they would heavily rely on good effects and lack a good story, but in my honest opinion I couldn’t of been more wrong.
Starting out in the first series we are show a family from the north (the Starks) and you realise straight away the focus is to be on ned stark - the father struggling to decide what what outcome is best for his family giving him some rather uncomfortable situations with rob Baratheon his once close friend - the king; who has complications between his wife, and ‘son’ Joffrey, which, inevitably leads towards the ‘death’ of rob then soon after the beheading of Ned.
The first season was an eye opener of what was to come, it was so unexpected, for many Ned would be classed as the main protagonist of the first season and for him to be killed off so early on meant no character was safe, which left a truly gripping story atmosphere.
I like the whole series as it really makes you like characters and you feel almost attached, and a death of a favourable character is truly a sad experience, they build up the characters in a way that even the people who are bad in the show are liked which really shows the writers put a lot of thought into character development and how it would affect the story, the show is also balanced with a good amount of effect, including the mesmerising dragon scenes or the entire city getting obliterated by wild fire, not to mention the incredibly well made battle scenes.
The show switches from the focus of ned to the focus of the different houses and there attempts to rise to power, I like the sense of not knowing who will be in the episode as theres so many characters in different places so its hard to follow the perspective of every main character, so you almost anticipate end get exited to follow your favourite character and it builds up the suspense by leaving it for an episode or 2.
To summarise my overall opinion I would without a doubt rate the entire series very highly, however some specific parts of dialogue is quite confusing which can lead you to not understand the plot for the rest of the episode, however in a sense that encourages you to ask and communicate about it, which can be quite entertaining for you and your friends.
